This is the good practice's implementation level. It can be national, regional or local.
About this good practice
Pilot interventions at a school in Pilea aimed at improving building’s energy efficiency.
1.Installation of 40 photovoltaic panels (rated power of 250Wp each) on school’s roof (15,38% efficiency). The installation includes a net-metering system. In case of energy production surplus, this surplus is freely distributed to the network.
2.Installation of geothermal energy system for the heating-cooling of school’s library including a) geothermal heat pump consuming 25-30% of the energy it delivers, b) geothermal heat exchanger that absorbs or rejects heat to the ground, c) exchanger of vertical type in depth of about 100m that consists of a closed piping system where water flows and d) internal heating and/or cooling space installation.
3.Other energy efficiency improvement interventions: installation of presence sensors to optimize lighting use, replacement of indoor luminaries with new electronic of high efficiency lamps, replacement of ambient space luminaries with new LED lighting, installation of ceiling fans and Building Energy Management System, replacement of all window frames at school with new of aluminum with double glazing and low coefficient of thermal transmittance, replacement of external doors with new fire doors, interventions on electromechanical installations, placement of a high-efficiency central heating boiler, installation of compensation system for hot water supply temperature, wall painting with cold material and vegetation interventions.

Potential for learning or transfer
From the implementation of the project, important conclusions could be excluded for the Municipality as regards the implementation of similar projects, since:
• Experience was gained regarding the implementation of energy saving projects and the installation of renewable energy sources
• The overall project is part of the Sustainable Action Plan that has been drafted by the Municipality.
