About this good practice
The main goal is to protect the natural and cultural resource to showcase the railway infrastructures in order to make their surrounding areas sustainable, since these are composed of several places which have been or are in the process of being classified as sites of community importance (SCIS).
There are six train station recovered which main activities are involving with cultural and natural activities: in order to preserve the identity of the local community. One of them is a Costume Museum, the costume of Galicia Region, in permanent exhibition and a car museum. Another one tries to maintain the cultural legacy of native artist, offering a hostel service and a restaurant, too. Three of them are in the Santiago way, so they were recovery like a hostel service and a restaurant. The last one offers a Museum of railway elements, from tracks to a remodel coach.
Other important issue is the fact that the railway station belong to ADIF, the Public Institution in charge to maintain the railway infrastructures. So Inorde has a rental agreement to manage them.

Resources needed
The total amount to restore all railway station and carried out the European project was 5.744.370,78 € from EDRF and 1.914790,26 € from County Council of Ourense province, Inorde and Viana do CAstelo Municipality. 6.192.494,37 to Ourense province and 1.466.666,67 to Viana do Castelo.
Evidence of success
The restore of an isolated historical building creates employment and making profits reinvested in the surrounding area. Moreover this allows maintaining cultural and natural heritage .This project promote the local economy through the activities organize in the Stations: cross border events programs taken place in their facilities, sports events outdoors, training, dissemination event, seminars and other events promoting natural and cultural heritage.
Potential for learning or transfer
This project can be transferred to other similar areas with this special feature (rural and mountainous areas with a great natural and cultural heritage) like a way of sustainable promote of that, taken into account the impact of the economy in this areas.
This is a way to manage cultural heritage promoting activities relation to the surrounding area, rural area, and it´s a good option to local authorities to improve economic and social aspects.
