This is the good practice's implementation level. It can be national, regional or local.
About this good practice
- Having access to open data about transports isn’t something common, and if so, sometimes its dispersed in multiple platforms which make difficult a good usage of the tools.
- Trafiklabs, gathers in a single open data platform information about transports in Sweden, and made some API’s available to everyone so users may develop and share smartphone app’s. Some API’s that can be found in the platform are: 1) ResRobot - Trip Planner (public transport schedules in Sweden and their geographic location); 2) Traffic State SL 2 / Trafikverket open API (traffic conditions); 3) SL Real Time Information 4 (real time information on buses, subways, commuter trains, local trains and boats in Stockholm) and more. The data is always provided free to third parties in order to foster creativity among the transport community in Sweden so they can make useful applications to the ordinary user. The main goals of this good practice are: 1) Make all traffic data in Sweden available; 2) Share APIs to foster transportation sector entrepreneurship; 3) Share to the population all the apps created; 4) - Increase the usage of public transport.
- The main stakeholders of this platform are Trafiklabs, Trafikverket, Storstockholms Lokaltrafik, Ostgotatrafiken and Rise Viktoria. Everyone is a beneficiary, the programmers, the users and the entities

Resources needed
The creation of the national data-sets costs approximately one million euro per year. The Trafiklab itself as an annual costs of around 400.000€.
Evidence of success
Thanks to this platform a lot of projects (https://www.trafiklab.se/projekt) in the transportation field were created such as:
- Skjutsgruppen.se (70.000 users);
- Citymaps (on the top lists of popular navigation apps);
- The Resident (10.000 downloads);
- STHLM Traveling (500.000 downloads and 50.000 unique users daily).

Potential for learning or transfer
Creating a single open data platform about transports depends on a lot of factors, being the most important the availability of the information. As long as the information is available all that is needed is technical abilities and budget in order to develop the platform. Every country would be a beneficiary of this platform as it encourages innovation and entrepreneurship around the transports community of the country so everyone, especially the ordinary transport user, can benefit from the applications and platforms created.
