Peer review: a blue economy roadmap for Estonia
On 09 and 10 February 2023, the Policy Learning Platform is organising a peer review for the benefit of the Environmental Investment Centre (Estonia), It will focus on how to create a blue economy roadmap.
What will it be about?
In July 2022, the Estonian Ministry of Environment proposed to create a Blue Economy Roadmap for Estonia like the EU´s Blue Economy Policy´s framework and indicators. As a starting point for this process, the Ministry has appointed the Environmental Investment Centre as the leading party.
The Centre has started analysing the current situation to map out strategic documents and stakeholders. This analysis shows that the local scene in Estonia is diverse.
Estonian institutions and interests are sometimes scattered and overlapping. However, clear focus, ambition, and horizontal and holistic approaches to environmental matters are often missing.
Peers from across Europe
Under the moderation of René Tönnisson and Mart Veliste, Thematic Experts on SME competitiveness, a team of excellent peers from across Europe will gather to discuss these challenges and draft recommendations. The selected peers are:
- Juha Valtanen, Turku University of Applied Sciences, Finland
- Riccardo Leoncini, University of Bologna, Italy
- Petri Muje, Lapland University of Applied Sciences, Finland
- Gert Verreet, Government of Flanders, Belgium
The peer review is an invitation-only event. However, key learnings of the peer review will be published afterwards in a follow-up article on the Interreg Europe website.
