Developing sustainable sport tourism

Sport tourism is a fast developing market within tourism. Sustainable development is considered today as an important element of any growth strategy. In order for sport tourism programs to be sustainable there should be some clear prerequisites: respect for the environment, local communities’ active engagement, social and economic impacts on local communities, and promotion of local culture. The aims of the proposed project are a) to exchange information on good practices related to the successful development of sport tourism programs b) to identify the key factors for the sustainable development of sport tourism c) to provide training for those who are involved on sport tourism development (stakeholders and local communities) on how to apply the principles of sustainable development.
