About the project
Electric mobility has recently seen an important uptake especially in urban areas. EV charging infrastructure is also developed along main roads because commercial operators try to avoid poor business case for their investments. The electric charging infrastructure reflects this in rural areas, where drivers may experience a level of “range anxiety”, the concern that vehicles will not be able to travel the distance needed, due to a lack of EV charging points and choose options that are more readily serviced. The proposed project is oriented to jointly tackling the challenge of lack of EV charging infrastructure (EVCI) in rural and remote areas that poses serious barrier on the road to decarbonize the transport in rural and suburban areas. In this context the overall objective of the project is to develop and/or improve (local and regional) policy instruments targeting the gap between fast developing commercial and underserved rural EVCI.
