About the project
Health facilities are the type of buildings and installations with the highest consumption and less efficiency because of several facts:
1- They are running 24h/7days all the year
2- Temperature, humidity, and air quality must be optimized all the time.
3- They need a backup for their supplies in case of emergency
4- Usually they are old facilities with different restorations and upgrades during their life.
The reduction of consumption and carbon footprint must be developed using a complex methodology taking into account several factors:
1- Embedded energy of the improvements developed.
2- Real comparison of the impact of changes developed.
3- Changing legal regulation to include a rate of most important interventions.
In summary, it is needed a rate to evaluate the impact of energy reduction in health facilities according to real facts including energy bills, patient and workers sensations, maintenance reduction, and carbon footprint impact.
