About the project
The COVID-19 pandemic, the increased occurrence of extreme climate events, and more recently the war in Ukraine, underline the importance of moving towards robust and resilient food systems.
European cities and regional authorities have an important role in shaping sustainable food systems, and many have started to draft strategies towards greener food systems, whilst others are still at the very start of this process. Interregional exchange can help authorities to further strengthen their food policies.
In this framework, the POLIFOOD project wants to strengthen 4 existing food policy instruments related to urban food provisioning:
- Urban food strategies
- Food procurement policy
- Peri-urban agricultural parks
- Food Policy Councils
The participating partners and authorities will share their experiences, good practices and innovative approaches in an environment of interregional learning and will strengthen their capacities to improve the design and delivery of their food policies.
