About the project
Smart planning is needed to regulate the use of land, limit the negative impact on the environment and landscape while optimizing efficiency of these artificialized spaces. In rural areas, industrial parks can bring an economic added value and be a source of innovation, but they can also disfigure rural landscapes, hurt ecosystems and generate a great deal of pollution impacting the quality of life of local inhabitants. Economic development and protection of the environment and quality of life should can coexist with the proper regulatory framework. This framework on land use must include criteria on the environmental, social as well as economic viability of any activity in a given area. It should account for flows of energy, vehicules, people, fauna and flora in order to optimize and coordinate these flows and prevent the negative impacts. This is the challenge that the project wants to tackle through joint experimentation of smart and green industrial zones.
