60/40 employment measure to SMEs

About this good practice
Objective: to support the employers through short-term tool for urgent business support to maintain employment and guarantee the income of employees
Measure:
- 2020: the state will cover 60% of the insurance income and social security contributions owed by the employers in case there is a decline in sales of more than 20% for the same period for the last year.
- June 2021:
- the state will cover 50% of the insurance income and social security contributions owed by the employers if there is a reduction of 30% in the sales revenues
- the state will cover 60% of the insurance income and social security contributions owed by the employers if there is a reduction of 40% in the sales revenues
Conditions to submit application:
- the work process has been stopped by an order of the employer or by state authority,
- labour relations with workers must be concluded before the state of emergency,
- no employees should be dismissed for the period during which the company receives compensation,
- the state aid will be provided for no longer than 3 months
Application: coordinated by the National Employment Agency, submission of applications on line through the Labour offices

Evidence of success
According to the NSI (national statistical institute), as of beginning of July 2021 the measure brought to some 13 000 businesses nearly BGN 1,5 billion, saving around 304 000 jobs
