About this good practice
"GEA S.A." - Lyrarakis Wines is based in Crete and is a family vineyard, a winery, a standardization/bottling plant and a visitable Cellar. Company's goal since its inception in 1966 is the ethical relationship with society, which continues to be enriched to date, along with the other principles CSR by developing actions in the field of environment, market and human resources. As its activity is directly related to the cultivation and exploitation of the soil, the goal of the CSR actions that concern the environmental pillar is the respect for the Cretan land and the biodiversity of the soil so there is land for the future generations. There are being made efforts to enhance soil biodiversity that will act as a substitute for the use of chemical insecticides and herbicides and produced compost is incorporated into the vineyard lands. In the pillars of society, the aim is to have a moral relationship with and within the local community and within this philosophy, further actions are being developed such as: Cooperation with local community and local winemaker producers, Visitable cellar that is used to highlight the importance of the society that produces its own food and to promote local products, Participation in the "Connecting Sustainable Winegrowing with the Hospitality Sector" project etc. The company has made serious efforts to provide a fair, safe and decent working environment. The main beneficiaries are: employees, society, environment and clients.

Lyrarakis Wines' approach to Corporate Social Responsibility is holistic. Thus, those who are interested in getting informed and adopt relevant practices can access them. The experience gained from the actions implemented could be transferred and disseminated. Lyrarakis Wines has already issued its 1st sustainability report, which lists the practices adopted in the context of CSR.
