a model of household waste management in the private development of the Boryslav community
About this good practice
Specialists of the Center for Ecology, Tourism and Sustainable Development have developed several models of household waste management depending on the type of building. The microdistrict of private development has become a pilot for the model of sorting waste according to the two-container scheme. Residents of the buildings were given 2 containers each for free use - for secondary raw materials and for mixed waste. This is the simplest technological sorting scheme. Collected waste will be removed from each yard on specified days. When concluding contracts with residents, Ecocenter experts explain in detail to people how to properly sort garbage in private estates, why it is needed and what benefits it will bring in the future
Resources needed
management decisions of the local self-government body, the concept of the waste management model at the local level, community development program documents
Evidence of success
An important advantage of such a system was the extraction of various types of secondary raw materials, which takes place directly at the place (by each owner) of their formation and is subsequently directed to processing
Potential for learning or transfer
This model of waste management will be extended to other micro-districts of the Boryslav community with private buildings. Such a system has been working in European countries for a long time and has proven its effectiveness
