An innovative method of dialogue between parties interested in the environment: the Open Forum
About this good practice
Further to the publication of "Les parcs & relations Homme-nature" (Parks and the Relationship between Man and Nature) by ENRx and the distribution of 600 copies during the National Convention of the 51 French regional natural parks in 2016, it became advisable to unite interested parties on a voluntary basis to continue the thought process and define an action plan to engage the public for the environment. The choice of the "Open Forum" method based on a participative and mutual collaboration seemed particularly innovative.
Resources needed
The 22 activity leaders for the subjects covered during the Open Forum in June 2017, were invited to make tangible, practical proposals for input to the action plan proprosed by ENRx and the regional natural Parks within the scope of the IMPACT project. 44 participants at the Open Forum.
Evidence of success
1. Amelioration of the tangible and practical awareness and consideration of biodiversity on the regional scale by our regional partners both public and private.
2. At the economic level, promotion of the interest in preserving biodiversity with a balance between preservation of these areas as a remarkable natural heritage and the economic activities.
3. Reinforced commitment by residents and territorial parties in the region and the regional natural parks to preserve biodiversity.
Potential for learning or transfer
The first Open Forum "Quelles relations Homme-Nature souhaitez-vous ? (What type of Man and Nature relationship do you aspire to?) will result in the organisation of meetings and dynamic dialogue which should facilitate production of tools and methods to engage elected officials, residents and socio-economies parties for the environment in concrete terms.
