Beach Cleaning - "I want my beach clean"
About this good practice
A group of volunteers organize themselves through the Litoral Aventura Association to clean the coastal strip and dune area on the beaches of the municipality of Santiago do Cacém, between the beaches of Costa de Santo André and Fonte do Cortiço. The activity aims to collect waste dispersed in the sand and dunes, namely those brought by the tides, as well as to raise participants' awareness of the amount of waste abandoned and its consequences for environmental pollution and marine flora and fauna.
After the waste is collected, it is sorted by typologies and sent to recycling and recovery centres. An attempt is made to carry out research to find out the origins of waste and its typology so that participants have an idea of the dynamics that the oceans have and the importance of sea currents.
