Resources needed
The center was established due to the financial support of a Slovenian-Hungarian cross-border cooperation project in 2015. For the maintenance, there is no need for additional subsidies, yearly turnover (from tourism) covers the upkeep costs. Cyclist experts are also provided by the center itself.
Evidence of success
Since its establishment, Rejtek Bike Center become one of the most important active touristic destination in South Zala. The center is very popular mainly among families and students. Due to the efficient promiotion activities, many student groups arrive here during the summer season even from the Hungarian capital, Budapest, located more than 250 km from the center. Besides, Rejtek maintaines the broadest stakeholder network in the area, thus the involvement of service providers is very vital.
Potential for learning or transfer
The most important potential to be learned or to be transfered is the manner how the management of Rejtek Bike Center has elaborated its horizontal network with local stakeholders as partners. After the establishment of the center, bilateral partnership agreements were signed between Rejtek and local stakeholders (mainly restaurants, bars, touristic destinations, museums, municipalities) ensuring cooperation in boosting local visitor economy. Due to the network of bilateral cooperations, local stakeholders could share the benefits of the local volume of tourism by sharing services and clients in South Zala. As a positive consequence, Rejtek Bike Center can priovide a cross-sectoral active tourism service through its local stakeholder network, therefore the most important touristic destinations and natural values can be discovered by using bycicles and one single cooperative network.
