CDAU (Unified Digital Street Map of Andalusia)
About this good practice
CDAU is the geographic data set of roads and portals in Andalusia, with a topological structure, which allows locating in the territory any geographic object (and its associated variables) that has a postal address, with an approximation at the portal level. The basic entities that are maintained and updated with CDAU are the roads, road sections and portals where the population resides (houses) or where an activity is carried out (establishments or premises), including all population centres and scattered ones. The principles on which the generation and maintenance of this data set is based are those of a single institutional data and decentralised maintenance, in accordance with those that inspired Directive 2007/2/EC of 14 March 2007 (InspirE) and its transposition into domestic law in Law 14/2010, of 5 July, on geographic information infrastructures and services in Spain. CDAU has the status of basic infrastructure of the Statistical and Cartographic System of Andalusia (art. 17.2 of Law 3/2013, of July 24, approving the Statistical and Cartographic Plan of Andalusia (PECA) 2013-2017), and will provide horizontal services to the various public and private agents. As such information infrastructure, the purpose of CDAU is to serve as a cartographic reference base for the management and exploitation of data from both administrative sources and records and from statistical and/or cartographic information.

Its impact includes enhanced addressing accuracy and administrative efficiency, demonstrating scalability potential. The practice is replicable with clear methodologies, benefiting regions facing similar challenges in spatial data management. Sustainability is ensured through continuous adaptation and alignment with regional priorities. Innovations in data integration and methodology make it a model for transformative change. Linked to the thematic focus on data and open data, it supports improved public services and economic development through informed decision-making. Overall, CDAU's alignment with Interreg goals, demonstrated impact, replicability, sustainability, innovation, and thematic relevance make it a valuable practice for other regions to learn from and potentially adopt.
