This is the good practice's implementation level. It can be national, regional or local.
About this good practice
After a two-day training under the supervision of employees of Focus, Association for Sustainable Development, students started with visits to vulnerable households.
The visit included the review of bills for electricity, heating and water consumption, analysis of electrical and electronic household appliances, analysis of water usage, inspection of windows and radiators. All this information and data were collected by students and on this basis they prepared a set of measures and list of appliances suitable for the household.
At the second visit to the household they installed free devices for energy and water consumption savings (energy-saving lamps, seals for windows, water saving appliances for tap and shower, etc.). At the same time households were presented advices for saving energy and water, and gave additional information on how or where to get additional help or advice. Complete services, including small devices for savings, were free of charge for the household.
Vulnerable households received free packages in worth of around 80€ which contained:
- energy saving lamps of different strengths,
- gaskets for windows and doors,
- electricity extension with switch for switch off,
- saving pipes and shower sockets,
- economical hand shower (head shower),
- reflector panel for radiator,
- thermometer.

Resources needed
The project has been organised by association Focus with participating Municipalities and Centers for social work Hrastnik, Trbovlje and Zagorje ob Savi. Municipalities financed ca. 80€ per vulnerable households in form of energy saving packages.
Evidence of success
Vulnerable households living conditions have become more suitable and yearly savings are estimated to reach approximately 100 EUR.
Potential for learning or transfer
The project, in the framework of cooperation between secondary schools and municipalities, enabled vulnerable households to improve their situation and option to the interested students of carrying out their annual practice.
