This is the good practice's implementation level. It can be national, regional or local.
About this good practice
The project envisages measures aimed both at preventing the generation of municipal waste and at increasing the quantities of separately collected municipal recyclable waste for the purpose of their subsequent recycling. The planned activities are only in respect of recyclable municipal waste generated in the municipality of Beloslav and relate to separate collection at source, in order to ensure subsequent recycling. Raising awareness and public awareness of compliance with the hierarchy for municipal waste management is key in the context of the planned initiatives to increase citizen participation in the separate collection of municipal waste.
This demonstration project proposal is aimed at activities related to the flows of household waste, for which there is a little and insufficient separate collection, both on the territory of the country and on the territory of the municipality of Beloslav.
The goal of the project corresponds to the main goal of the demonstration project, aimed at supporting the achievement of the specific goal 1 of Priority Axis 2 "Waste" of OPE 2014-2020 to reduce the amount of landfilled waste and increase the share of waste recycling through the implementation of activities that are highest in the hierarchy of waste management.
The introduction of a system for separate collection of recyclable household waste in Beloslav is aimed at encouraging the local population to separate household waste through improvements in waste collection practices.

Resources needed
The total amount of the project is 199 250,44 EUR, 159 137,04 EUR from it coming from ERDF, 29 887,56 EUR is national funding.
Evidence of success
The implementation of the project directly contributes to a smooth transition to a circular economy and supports the recycling of 50% of municipal waste by 2020. The envisaged measures have already reduced tangible the amount of landfilled biodegradable waste and increase the share of separately collected quantities of waste on the territory of the municipality. The initiative has also significantly raised public awareness on the benefits from separate waste collection.
Potential for learning or transfer
The messages from the project for the innovative model for separate waste collection can easily be transferred to different regions across Europe. The set measures and expected results from the activity are directly aimed at preventing the generation of waste and increasing the share of separate collection, as well as the transferred paper, cardboard, glass, plastic and metal for recycling. The increased share of municipal waste materials sent for recycling will be ensured by increasing the purity of the separately collected fraction. All these problems need to be solved not only locally, but the require EU-wide policy, in order an effective, sustainable and environmental-fiendly solution to be found. The demonstration project shows a working way for promoting separate waste on a municipal level that can easily be implemented in various European regions.
