About this good practice
The E-bike- NET project was financed by ERDF. The objective of the project was to create a network of electric bikes, while improving planning, development and coordination of cross border transportation systems for better connections to the TEN-T infrastructure. Through this project, a network of electric bikes ( e-bikes) was created, that people can use to circulate free between the cities in the entire cross border area ( 32 cities). The cities in Romania where the bike network was created are Giurgiu, Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Călăraşi, Constanṭa, Craiova,Alexandria, Medgidia, Mangalia, Caracal, Roşiori, Turnu Măgurele, Cernavoda, Năvodari, Slatina Oltenița, Calafat.
During the implementation of the project, 32 cities were equipped with electric bike stations, 70 charging points for the electric bikes were installed in order to cover the entire cross border area. Also, during this project were ellaborated 2 studies which provide Information for transport connections with TEN-T infrastructure of the developed E-bike Network, an analysis of the existing road infrastructure and traffic intensity.

Resources needed
The value of the project was in total of 762,085.72 euro, out of which 647,772.86 ERDF
Evidence of success
32 towns have e-bike stations; 70 e-bike charging station points cover the whole CBC area; 2350 e-bikes were provided within the project and are being used inside the CBC area. The cross- border area has a map in GPS format, developed under the project, with cycling paths, that connect the two border cities.
Potential for learning or transfer
Having in mind the increasing challenges that the mobility is facing in our era, developing ideas for alternative mobility is the key when tackling the mobility issues. With this project, it was created a network that is functional in two neighboring countries. The main objective for the transfer of this good practice is: the use of alternative means of transportation which are environmentally friendly, contributing to the low carbon economy. During the Regio-Mob workshops, detailed information regarding the implementation of this project, the lessons learned, the difficulties and the challenges in implementing have been provided to the attendees, stressing the advantages of having a network of electric bikes connecting small cities on short distances. Many cities represented in the project have similar areas as the one tackled in the project, that could replicate the model used for E-bike.
