This is the good practice's implementation level. It can be national, regional or local.
About this good practice
The pandemic has greatly impacted nursing homes, since in these small ecosystems with limited movement of users, the contagion has been exponential. In addition, the target group was the profile of patients with more possibilities of having difficulties in coping with the disease. In some cases, staff were locked up with the guest as a way to prevent the virus from entering the building.
Since March 2020, this situation with limited space and a limited number of personnel, even available on the job market, nursing homes have been the source of 80% of the victims of this pandemic. We do not have data on the number of infected personnel, but it was also high.
As a result of this situation, the Provincial Governmentof Teruel (PGT) wants to support the nursing homes with some cash flow as a way of recognizing the great effort made and supporting the older adults of the province, who are a large majority in the villages of the territory.

Resources needed
74.000€ is the money that the Provincial Government of Teruel has increased in the budget for supporting the nursing homes in the province, is around 2.000 for each one. Before the pandemic in the provincial budget there were 240.000€ for supporting the nursing homes as many of them are municipal.
Evidence of success
To be sure that the money will be used totally, the Provincial Government supports this kind of institutions as many of them are managed by municipalities and the goal of the province is to support them. There are 236 municipalities and just 10 have more than 5000 inhabitant, in adition to the depopulation, the population is really old, and aware of the situation all the political groups support this change in the budget so is a popular tool.
Potential for learning or transfer
This grant is absolutely trasferable, as the situation in terms of impact in silver population with the COVID-19 has been similar in other countries and areas of Spain and Europe. Support this institutions as care home or nursing homes is easy and valuable as impact in the cashflow of the company in difficult moments and help them to maintain the system in economical and social terms. Is not a big amount but enought to help them and show the interest of the institution in the economy and the older adults.
