This is the good practice's implementation level. It can be national, regional or local.
About this good practice
The Platform of Indicators is aimed at offering a unique framework of reference for a standardised concept of CSR and is designed for improving the skills and knowledge of Italian companies in the field of responsible business conduct.
The tool derives from the implementation of the interregional project "Creation of a network for the diffusion of CSR", launched in 2012 by the Veneto Region in collaboration with the Liguria region.
The contents of the Platform have been developed as part of a collaboration between the University of Genoa and the National Contact Point for the dissemination of the OECD Guidelines that operates within the Ministry of Economic Development.
The tool is intended for Public Administrations willing to promote CSR by acknowledging the extra-efforts taken by responsible companies in public procurement processes or in the management of grant schemes. Furthermore, the same tool allows companies to get a self-assessment of the CSR actions simply filling in anonymously the form.
The assessment questionnaire is made of 7 components:
A. Organisation and administration
B. People and work environment
C. Customers and consumers
D. Suppliers
E. Natural environment, local community and relations with Public Administrations
F. Innovation and competitiveness
For companies with more than 10 employees, the tool foresees also a section "G" called "Management of the relevant risk".

Resources needed
The web-based Portal only costed little over 18.000€. Nonetheless, the realisation of the model and its dissemination rely on an ongoing effort of both involved Regions and Ministry of Economic Development.
Evidence of success
The practice is currently in use in 16 Regional administrations.
Back in 2015, already 3.000 SMEs had tested the tool as stated in the OECD National Contact Point Peer Reviews.
The OECD partners stated that:
• it fosters a holistic vision of the CSR within industrial policies;
• it has been created thanks to the involvement of institutions and stakeholders - with particular emphasis to the Regions;
• it is largely adopted by companies and mSMEs in particular.

Potential for learning or transfer
This practice has been already transferred within the national borders demonstrating its usefulness throughout the Italian territory. It can be easily transferred in other EU Member State as it does not create any additional assessment model: the considered standards are well acknowledged ISO norms and the general framework is provided by the OECD guidelines for the dissemination of CSR.
The web-tool only costed 18.150€ and it is ready for a scale up. The self-administration of the questionnaire reduces dramatically the costs for its dissemination.
