About this good practice
The Ethnographic Park in Tokarnia is the largest facility of this type in Poland. There are about 80 buildings located on its premises, located on an area of about 65 hectares. The Museum of the Kielce Countryside is entered in the Register of Monuments and the State Register of Museums.
The Ethnographic Park in Tokarnia gathers objects of old Polish architecture of villages and small towns in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodship. The open-air museum is divided into thematic sectors, corresponding to individual regions of the Kielce region. The territorial layout of the Ethnographic Park in Tokarnia allowed for the foundation of the objects in an area close to their original locations.
The resources at the disposal of the Museum are used by the local community, which is actively involved in the ongoing activities and events. The local community participates in reconstructions, screenings or film productions, both documentary and commercial.
The Ethnographic Park is also an extraordinary tourist attraction, where, in addition to sightseeing, workshops are organized thematically related to the cultural heritage of the Świętokrzyskie village, demonstrations of old crafts, agricultural work and culinary shows. During the year, a number of thematic outdoor events are held here, attended by several thousand people. The park also has a wide educational offer addressed to children and teenagers, organizes field games and provides accommodation services in a historic building.

The relocation of the objects allowed for the preservation of their cultural heritage and protected them from damage related to improper protection. The Museum cooperated with the Kielce University of Technology in the transfer of the objects, which carried out laser scanning of the objects, which will facilitate their restoration to their original appearance and can be used in further research work.
The Ethnographic Park in Tokarnia is a place that connects the local community, allowing for the preservation of the cultural heritage and traditions of the former Świętokrzyskie village. The organized events include, among m.in, ritual groups and rural housewives'
