"Expansion of the Museum of the Kielce Village - Ethnographic Park in Tokarnia in order to preserve
About this good practice
Before the project was implemented, thanks to the activities of the Kielce Village Museum, 65 priceless wooden architecture objects from the 18th and 19th centuries were saved from the area of the province of Świętokrzyskie and neighboring voivodships. From the beginning of existence (1976), until the end of 2009, only 40 buildings were elevated. For over 30 years Ethnographic Park in Tokarnia did not reach the target state assumed at the beginning. The elaborated implementation plan of Ethnographic Park in Tokarnia has lost its validity. This was caused, among other things, by the loss of previously planned objects and the selection of new objects, selected after scientific research. 32 objects stored on the site of the open-air museum awaited reconstruction and foundations. The presented project envisioned creation of the restaurant and the foundation, according to the plan, of 30 objects. Objects that the Beneficiary planned to restore and elevate as part of the Project were spread out and subjected to conservation measures. The proposed Project took into account the current and future needs of the Museum and the expectations of visitors. The project was cofinanced under Regional Operational Program of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodship 2007 – 2013.
Resources needed
The total value of the project: 17 185 872,63 PLN (approximately 4 mln Euro) and the value of co-financing from ERDF: 8 999 123,70 PLN (approximately 2 mln Euro).
Evidence of success
The project achieved a key product indicator, ie: Number of tourist and recreational facilities built, whose target value in 2013 was 30. During the project implementation, successive facilities were successively commenced from 2011. The constructed facilities were at the same time new tourist products in the amount analogous to the above indicator (8 items in 2011, 5 items in 2012 and 17 items in 2013), which added up to 30 new tourist products.
Potential for learning or transfer
The Ethnographic Park in Tokarnia is a unique and the largest object of this type in Poland. The park organizes various types of events / celebrations that are adapted to different age groups. In addition, there are also private events, such as weddings, which take place on the premises of the facility with the possibility to learn about the park area by guests, which significantly increases the cognitive value of the participants. The museum is also trying to stimulate the local community to actively participate in the implemented activities and events which is really an interesting activity of Museum.
