FOODSI app - reducing food waste in restaurants, bakeries, pastry shops and supermarkets

Only in Poland we throw away around 5 million tons of food every year. Consumers waste the most - as much as 60%, or nearly 3 million tonnes of food thrown away comes from households. Production and processing together account for 30% of losses. Annually, over 1/3 of the food produced goes to the trash. In April 2019, Poles created the Foodsi application for selling food from shops and restaurants that would end up in the trash.
The application called Foodsi is a tool to fight with this problem. It has been operating for over a year, incl. in Poznań, Warsaw, Wrocław and the Tri-City, from October this year it is also available in Kraków. The application helps restaurants, bakeries, cafes and supermarkets to reduce the amount of food waste. The main beneficiaries of the application are entities from the food industry that instead of throwing unsold food bring them back in the form of surprise packages to the market and thus instead of incurring a loss - they earn money.
On the other hand, we also have recipients of dishes - application users who are ready to collect ordered surprise packages at a specified price, at an agreed time, making savings in their budget because as a rule food products and meals included in each surprise package are offered at a price below market price.
