This is the good practice's implementation level. It can be national, regional or local.
About this good practice
Alta Langa, a territory that offers a wealth of cultural, naturalistic and food and wine resources to be discovered wandering, or "going to Langa" as they say in these parts. On foot, by bicycle or on horseback, the Great Traverse of the Langhe allows visitor to discover the treasures of this part of the Province of Cuneo, giving the opportunity to plan several days trekking or short walks to do in a few hours. The countries, always perched on the top of the hills, maintain an austere charm with the stone masonry , the narrow streets are similar to roads of the old historical villages of nearby Liguria called "caruggi". These are places located away from landslides, more protected from raids by ancient enemies arriving from the Mediterranean sea but also more suitable to contemplate the beauty of a unique landscape. The gaze, free from obstacles, can in fact range on the nearby slopes and then embrace the plain and the majestic alpine arc that surrounds it.
Resources needed
The maintenance of the routes and the promotion require the commitment of the mountain union, of the local authorities, of all the Municipalities in agreement with the Piedmont Region that coordinates the tourism marketing. In particular, economic resources are necessary for providing safety.
Evidence of success
The guarantee of the success of the project is the significant increase of arrivals and the presence of tourists in the Municipalities crossed by the itineraries. The data relating to tourists are measured by tour operators, with local authorities and the Piedmont Region.
Potential for learning or transfer
In all of Europe, in recent years, projects have been launched to enhance the rural territory, especially for tourists who love outdoor sports, contact with nature and discover the excellence of the territory. The Alta Langa project is at the forefront because it unites numerous small municipalities, in an integrated local development project, orienting the opportunities and ensuring visibility.
