Hub381 Viale Dante – A place for young people, community and social inclusion
About this good practice
HUB381's priority is the interaction with the city in order to tackle educational poverty, families’ issues and risk of exclusion or deviant behaviour.
It hosts a daytime educational centre accredited by the Municipality of Pordenone, specifically with Noncello Social Services, aimed primarily at minors (15 boys/girls) in the care of social services. Furthermore FAI, through HUB381, is a partner of the network of youth centres and street youth workers in co-planning with the Youth Policy sector of the Municipality of Pordenone and the OSF Foundation as leader.
HUB 381 Viale Dante offers flexible and professional responses to the needs of minors in the area of learning, school support, cultural/education opportunities and social inclusion through:
- after-school services;
- specialist consultancy;
- projects to prevent school dropout.
At HUB 381, the environment is strongly characterized by inclusive teaching; there is a declared commitment to pursuing the objective of creating optimal learning conditions for everyone; tailoring an answer on each difficulty and giving value to differences. This approach puts everyone in a position of discovering their own strengths and values, enhancing and expressing their own potential to the maximum.
Resources needed
FAI Cooperative manages HUB381 with their own financial resources, but as a service delivered for the Municipality's Youth Policy sector FAI applies to a public call for managing as one of the youth centres. At the moment, for the delivery of the activities four people are employed as educators.
Evidence of success
HUB381 also organises numerous creative artistic and cultural workshops, completely free of charge, in which young people can socialise, get together and learn new techniques and interests for raising their talents with a future perspective.
Usually 10 to 15 youngsters take part in each activity and workshop.
Potential for learning or transfer
Being a project which is put in place with the cohesive work of a social cooperative and a Public Authority, in the interest of young people, families and community, HUB381 is a good example of cooperation between social providers and public institutions. Outcome results are: increasing cooperation between private and public sector, empowerement of services delivered for families and young people, well-known meeting point where youngsters can meet informally. At this regard, HUB381 has also the potential of exchange learning or transfer among transnational partners.
