About this good practice
The projects integrating more then five buildings will be included for the renovation, will have the bonus service from the municipality – the environment and infrastructure of those buildings will be restored. Those projects will bring various benefit for the residents: aesthetic, financial and social as well. From the perspective of the Kaunas Municipality – such projects will engage the residents to make the renovation of their houses, improving EE, and will lead to the complex planning and management of the urban environment.
The main place of implementation is the block of tenement houses in the Kaunas City. The main specification for the receiving of this service is to propose the renovation project of more than 5 tenement houses nearby. The direct beneficiaries are residents of the renovated houses and particular district where
the project is implemented. It will increase the value and prices of the realty at the renovated district. It also could stimulate additional investments from the business companies.

The implementing body is Lithuanian local authority of Kaunas city – Kaunas Municipality, in cooperation with the operating municipal and private companies.
Evidence of success
There are selected four blocks of tenement buildings which has been already renovated or are in the renovation process in the following streets:

There are overlaid all the aspects of sustainability”: Environmental: decreased energy demand; Financial: additional financing for the renovation from the municipality; Social: the better living environment and encouraged collaboration and cooperation with the neighbours.
