“MCPA”: Supported personal microcredit using IT to promote inclusion"
About this good practice
Crésus has noted that personal microcredit is a useful tool for many beneficiaries, but remains little known by the target audience, the processing time is inadequate, the national territory is unevenly covered and very few alternative solutions are offered to applicants when microcredit cannot be financed immediately.
MCPA enables microcredit providers to simplify the process, digitise the on-boarding procedure and develop the system by involving social and other players who are not specialists in budget support.
The MCPA Web Application can be used by various actors: associations, economic operators, financiers, public institutions, etc. It is intended for all organisations that support people who may be in a financially vulnerable situation, excluded from the traditional financial system, and who need to finance a project.
The MCPA is completely white-labelled, can be made available to a support structure other than Crésus and can be adapted to any lender.
The main beneficiaries are jobseekers, temporary workers, people on fixed-term contracts, people with an outstanding debt plan
Resources needed
Within Crésus LAB, MCPA employs 2 developers and an IT specialist. On the support side, a team of 10 budget advisers and 2 project managers.
The support provided by the MCPA has a cost to each beneficiary, which ensures stability.
Evidence of success
- 100% of beneficiaries use MCPA to send their documents.
- Easy to use, the prescription is created in 2 minutes, with direct access to the budget adviser's diary to make an initial appointment for the beneficiary. It also has a tab to follow the progress of the support in real time.
- Beneficiary area is designed as a smartphone version and very clear for efficient loading of documents.
- Adviser and lender areas can be customised to the key elements required by the organisation.
Potential for learning or transfer
MCPA has been designed to enable the development of microcredit and make it easier for different actors to prescribe it.
Through an API, the web application can be adapted to any banking software.
Designed on a white-label basis, the advisor area can be used in full or in part by other support structures, depending on their needs.
