About this good practice
This best practice was developed for supporting peasant organic farming in the North-East region.
The mission is to contribute to the sustainable development of the local community by implementing projects under a holistic approach across all three dimensions of sustainable development: the natural environment, the social environment and the economic environment.
In Iasi, Association “Better” intends to establish the first partnership in 2014. At present, a group of about 18 consumers are in a pilot phase aiming at identifying the best forms of development, the needs and preferences of the interested consumers, as well as the farmers who can respond to them.
The Association addresses all people to create civic responsibility for the sustainable development of the local community

Evidence of success
Biological, biodynamic or permaculture farming is one of the ways in which sustainable agriculture can be practiced. Careful and respectful to the natural environment and human health, she is capable to provide good, healthy and tasty products to a satisfactory level for the demand from cities, where an increasing number of people through critical and conscious consumption are heading in the same direction: calls for the introduction of ethical rules in the market free in food production methods
Potential for learning or transfer
As far as the history of alternative food networks is concerned, the origin is traced back to the 1960s in Japan in the movement of women who, concerned with the consequences of intensifying agriculture to avoid poisoning their families, decided to group together and create the first Teik. At the same time, similar community experiences have developed in Europe (Germany, Austria and Switzerland), and in the mid-1980s, the concept was imported by the USA, where it is called "Community Supported Agriculture" community). With the 2000s, the phenomenon spread throughout the world, and now in Japan, a four-member family is part of a Teikei, there are over 1,000 groups in the UK, and in the US and Canada, the movement regroups over 100,000 families.
