About this good practice
This is a very intense program and is only offered to SMEs with a very high international growth potential, and where the rate of success is very high
• The goal is to get SMEs to develop an export strategy and start implementing it
• There are collective workshops and individual consulting (private) during the program
• Selection of a market and a market visit is a part of the program
• The program runs for 8-12 months for each group of SMEs (8-10 SMEs)
• Each enterprise receive guidance by an affiliated consultant (key account) throughout the process
The stakeholders are Central Denmark Region as overall leader of the service and Business Development Centre Central Denmark is manager of the service
• Beneficiaries are SMEs (EU definition) which carry out international activities or have potential to do so
• There are particular focus on SMEs within manufacturing, food and food processing equipment, energy and environmental technology (including wind energy, biomass and water technology)
• Mainly targeted at SMEs with some international experience and with a high growth potential

Resources needed
• Approx. 20,000 € per SME including 50 % co-funding from the SME
• An estimate will be that it takes a full-time employee (37 h per week) 15 – 20 % of the working hours to run a course like this for 8-10 SMEs
• The SME will spend between 200 – 250 hours including preparations, collective camps

Evidence of success
• 8 SMEs participated in this activity in the one year program
• The Good Practice will continue in the new programming period
• The 8 SMEs evaluated that their participation will have a high impact on their export – but this is not measured
• 108 SMEs participated in the overall Program where this Good Practice was a minor activity. The 108 SMEs expect to increase yearly export by 71 – 117 mio. DKR.

Potential for learning or transfer
• This Good Practice is expensive per SME to carry out, and therefore the return on the public investment need to be high and safe
• This can be achieved by screening for international growth potential (see the Good Practice concerning this screening), and only offering this service to SMEs with a very high international growth potential
• Good basis for networking among SMEs
• An expert panel gives a great outcome for the SMEs – the SMEs pitch their go-to-market strategy
