About this good practice
RIDER Mobility is a start-up building urban ride sharing platform. RIDER aims to engage urbanites to share rides for different day-to-day mobility scenarios, lowering urban congestion and air pollution from small towns to megacities.
In order to develop business, the company used financial instrument “Inostartas” under the Lithuanian Operational Programme. This instrument is dedicated to promote the creation and development of new innovative SME entities, ensuring the development of innovative ideas, products and services, to promote the independence of companies in carrying out R&D work within the company. Funded activities under this measure are: R&D activities carried out by innovative SMEs; recruitment of researchers and scientists; enterprise development through R&D.
The start-up sought to create an innovative business model, an innovative concept and a comprehensive future-oriented mobility ecosystem. Using the financial instrument, start-up implemented R&D activities in order to create a prototype of an important part of the ecosystem – the passenger transport market – which includes research of an innovative concept models, testing in simulated market conditions and creation of a working prototype.

Resources needed
Project total value is 32 666,32 EUR, of which 22 866,42 EUR was funded from ERDF.
Evidence of success
The developed prototype was used for product development and commercialization. This project was vital for the further success of this start-up in order to scale up and develop their services.
Potential for learning or transfer
This good practice is a case of Mobility as a Service (MaaS). The start-up is creating a product that heavily responds to the global trends seeking to reduce traffic jams and air pollution.
Also, this is a good example of how state financial support can promote the development of transport related start-ups and encourage their eco-system.
