About this good practice
In 2009, the network of 12 fishing municipalities Udalarrantz, the Society of Basque Studies and the Integral Center for Training, Insertion and Rural-Litoral Development of Euskadi, Itsasmendikoi, sign an agreement for the elaboration of a plan for the recovery and dissemination of coastal heritage. At the same time, this network make a request to the Basque Government to design a master plan for the development of tourism on the Basque coast.
The tourism plan for the Basque Coast was designed and Basquetour the Basque Tourism Agency, in charge of the deployment of the plan, defined a dynamic approach to enhance the coordination between tourism sector and territorial stakeholders.
Basquetour, has established working tables that group all the tourism agents in the region. These tables are divided by counties and then there are the coordination tables at the level of all the coast where the representatives of the tables of each region participate. In these general boards the regional strategies of the subsectors are coordinated and work is carried out in collaboration for the deployment of the objectives included in the Basque Coast's master plan.
In Lea Artibai there are 4 sub-sectoral tables: Gastronomy, Lodging, Tourist services and Tourism office boards. The objective is to define the specific action plans linked to their sectors, to impact on the objectives of the regional tourism plan and the Basque Coast master plan
