The Digital, smart, sober and inclusive Smart Services Platform for Paris Region
About this good practice
Île-de-France Smart Services is a platform developed by the Île-de-France Regional Council to enhance the lives of Paris region residents by leveraging large datasets from the region and its public and private partners. The platform aims to create services that simplify daily life, making the region more attractive and sustainable. The co-construction approach involves all stakeholders, including local authorities, businesses, SMEs, citizens, and associations, in the development of these services.
A key issue identified is the lack of cybersecurity expertise among SMEs. To address this, the region supports SMEs in implementing robust cybersecurity measures and offers courses to help young people acquire essential digital skills for future business leadership. Additionally, the cyber security service allows SMEs to report difficulties, particularly in digital transition, and receive free advice to assess their digital maturity and obtain a tailored action plan.
The region also supports SMEs through its ERDF fund, and co-finances two EDIH European Digital Innovation Hubs: the CYBIAH EDIH project, focused on cybersecurity diagnosis and investment for SMEs, and DIGITHALL, which aids digital transition in sectors like manufacturing, transport, digital, security, agri-food, health, and energy.
Resources needed
Since 2019, over €7 million has been invested in the IDF smart services platform, benefiting 12 million inhabitants. This secure, cost-effective platform improves service delivery and is supported by a skilled team of 10 and more than 200 public-private partnerships, associations and universities.
Evidence of success
The Île-de-France Smart services platform prioritizes user accessibility, enabling actions in just three clicks, including for people with disabilities. The design emphasizes social and environmental transitions, offering services like energy transition, soft mobility, and economic development. Free, easy-to-implement digital services are also provided to local authorities, ensuring equal access across all municipalities without cost or technical expertise
