Urban Dashboard and Geoportal
About this good practice
The platform is oriented to (Big) Data Analytics, Data Mining and Decision Support. It allows the city to derive from the resulting Data Hub of the interoperability infrastructure. The Specific Data Bases finalized to the management of the phenomena are related both to the Subjects (citizens and businesses) and the Objects (buildings, schools, etc.) and are – in any case – within the boundary defined by the 9 thematic strands envisaged by the Pon Metro.
Examples:
(1) Tribute Datasets involving other databases managed by the municipality, such as the Waste Tariff, IMU and external databases, the Land Registry and SIA-TEL (from the Revenue Agency)
(2) Dataset of Social Need – personal data, context data, social needs, social assessment data, legal situations and protections, health-social situations and assigned services
(3) Dataset for Civil Protection – risk ranges, exposed population, fire risks, etc.
(4) Energy Dataset to support a transition to an economy with low emissions and the reduction of energy consumption by establishing a system of information sources that normally belong to different domains such as the Plant Register (source: Region), the Cadastre and the Tax Registry Office (source: Agenzia Entrate), the Buildings and their toponymy (from the municipality), etc.
Resources needed
The project was financed by Structural Funds: the National Operational Programme “Città Metropolitane 2014-2020”. Resources: 165,000 €
Evidence of success
Evolution of the Dashboard (advanced functions – not a complete list):
- Realization of a tool for quick search of objects through an attribute present in the database of the single informative layer
- Update to version 2 of the Mapstore web GIS component which makes the Geoportal fully compatible with mobile devices (smartphones and tablets)
- Open-source geographic DB experimentation aimed at replacing the current proprietary system (Oracle)
Potential for learning or transfer
The system ensures efficient interoperability services regarding external database sharing and provides similar functionalities with regard to the information exposed by external parties. It offers multiple research methodologies and localization with the ability to perform advanced queries between different geographic information layers and make available advanced functions of sharing and exporting results.
The activities were carried out by keeping in mind the necessary and correct integrations with the internal (Objects Domain, Toponymy, Budget, Energy Dashboard, etc.) and external (Land Registry, Revenue Agency) Systems & Databases – it is usable by the Body and Orders, citizens and companies, in compliance with the respective responsibilities and competences, as well as the regulatory framework (transparency, privacy).
The Geoportal facilitates and allows the localization of some information layers such as places of cultural interest, educational institutions, water courses, etc.
