Active Mobility episode I: promoting cycling in cities and regions

On 19 November 2024, the Policy Learning Platform is hosting the first episode of the webinar series 'Active Mobility'. Join us for the session on promoting cycling in cities and regions from 10:00 to 11:30 CET.

Active mobility, such as walking and cycling, is a vital part of the low-carbon transport system, helping to reduce carbon emissions and reduce air pollution. It also decreases traffic congestion and enhances urban mobility as a last-mile solution and contributes to improved public health by promoting physical activity.

Active transport is a key element of the European Green Deal and the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy, aiming to shift to more sustainable transport modes and achieve climate neutrality by 2050. The EU encourages investment in cycling infrastructure, pedestrian-friendly cities, and sustainable urban mobility plans to foster greener, healthier cities.

This webinar serie will be focused on the main active transport modes – walking and cycling – considering in particular how to integrate these lesser considered modes into mobility planning, also exploring infrastructure and behaviour change issues. This first episode will focus on promoting cycling in cities and regions.
