It is widely accepted that medicinal and aromatic plants and extracts are increasingly important export products for many developing countries. It had been observed that as a population, consumers’ preference for natural health products increases.Global demand for chemicals and other products derived from medicinal and aromatic plants has opened up entrepreneurialopportunities to process these plants for value added products, such as herbal health care formulations; cosmetic, herbal nutritional supplements..
Climate change is today a challanging and urgent problem to face to reorientate rural economy especially in Southern Europe and this sector need to be investigated as potential economic alternative.
These factors are generating enormous employment and job opportunities, special in deprived rural areas and medicinal and aromatic plants, if related to circular economy approach, and transformed and commerciallized from rural areas, can be turned in a ecomnomic soustainable sector.
