About the project
Our society faces the challenge of a progressive increase of dependent elderly people with care needs. The UN estimates that the number of people above 65 years old will double by 2050. In this context, the care sector emerges as an economic pilar which is crucial to assure social cohesion and quality of life within the population of many cities and regions.
The project proposal is focused on improving the current local and regional strategies to promote the care economy, as a source of economic competitiveness and the generation of quality employment for cities and regions.
The project aims at exchanging knowledge among administrations to reach better policies for the care of the elderly people, from a sustainable economic perspective in order to consolidate an economic tissue, which is capable of absorbing the growing demand of the care sector, with a diversified offer and incorporating innovation as an element of prevention and scalability.
