About the project
The Extended Producer Responsibility is based on the "polluter pays" principle, whereby product producers are involved in the prevention and management of waste from the products they put on the market.
The recent Directives 2018/852, on packaging and packaging waste, and 2019/904, on single-use plastics, have expanded the number of products as well as the obligation to establish EPR schemes for the waste of these products.
This inequality, recognized by the European Union itself in the application of extended responsibility, has meant that the scope of this type of waste to which the EPR is applied and the efficiency and effectiveness of the organizations that carry it out is different according to the regions.
Epreu Project seeks: Study the state of the art of the EPR, Identify and characterize the success stories; Identify EPR schemes, Identify good practices, Identify and study good practices related to citizen participation Transfer and adapt the good practices identified
