About the project
Maritime transport ensures the security of supply of energy, food and commodities, this is even more true for coastal, port and island regions which are usually peripheral to the mainland.
Seeking green solutions applicable to local waters would result in benefits across various sectors and policy areas, ensuring a continued, sustainable availability of jobs while attracting talent to peripheral regions.
This project shall seek to analyze ways how to direct policy towards encouraging small vessels owners/companies operating in local waters to take up alternative and green energy solutions by analyzing and proposing:
- Effective incentives /schemes for retrofitting
- Analysis of required infrastructure at port adaptable to small vessels
- Any training requirements for crew and port workers etc.
