About the project
Aim: to develop innovative cultural tourism based on geomythology.
Geomythology is the study of myths, legends, and folklore that explain geological or natural phenomena. These stories are often rooted in ancient cultures and provide a way for visitors to have new experiences.
Geomythology involves exposure to the stories and symbols used to describe geological events, such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods, and landslides. By studying the similarities and differences between geomyths across different cultures and time periods, visitors can gain insights into how ancient people understood and interpreted natural disasters and geological events.
Geomythology is an interdisciplinary field that combines elements of geology, anthropology, archaeology, mythology, and folklore studies. It is gaining increasing attention in tourism, as destinations start recognizing the potential of geomyths to provide new experiences for visitors in developing innovative cultural tourism products.
