About the project
Lightweighting is a key enabling technology that accelerates the Green Deal. It reduces the weight of cars, airplanes and component. Less weight = less energy = less CO2 emissions. Several EU countries recognise its economic importance and contribution to UN sustainability goals. Dedicated policies exist to a limited extent, and there is a need to synergize them in the EU. DE, AT, and SE are at the forefront, with policies that foster lightweighting competitiveness and innovation. Countries in Western/Southern EU are active in lightweighting but lack dedicated policies. In other regions e.g., Eastern Europe, lightweight still lacks general awareness. Followers can learn from frontrunners on how to strengthen the positioning of lightweight in their political agendas and altogether the project fosters the coordination between national efforts within the EU. This will improve the environment, modernise industry, and create jobs and economic growth by ensuring competitiveness.
Partners we are looking for
We have a diverse partnership consisting of public authorities and BSOs, including: DE, ES, GR, AT, SK. These partners have expertise in technology, innovation policy implementation and some are part of lightweight-related ecosystems. We are still looking for public authorities/organisations from the North/West that have the potential to work with policy instruments related to lightweight.
