About the project
The goal should be to promote the sustainable use and valorization of sea salt in the Mediterranean region. Through research, education, protection of endangered species, and habitat restoration, the project aims to contribute to the preservation of marine ecosystems, promote environmentally conscious production, and advocate for innovative approaches to sea salt utilization. Within a such a project, municipality of Ston could be a ideal project partner considering that within it is located one of the three salt pans in Croatia. Salt pans Ston is the oldest in Europe and possibly in the world. It originates from the 14th century and is still in use today. It was created after the Republic of Dubrovnik bought Ston in 1333 and surrounded it with a defensive wall in 1360. Solana has not changed the appearance and method of production so far. The sun, the sea, the wind and man are still coming together today to produce extraordinary ecological salt and salt flower.
Partners we are looking for
in a project like this, we are looking for an experienced manager who would take over the leadership of the project, and the Municipality of Ston would be one of the project partners.
The focus is on organizations, public bodies, educational institutions to be project partners or managers and Municipality of Ston could be a project partner who can contribute to the realization.
