About the project
NATUREM main objective is to take a step forward in making effective the prioritisation of soil restoration using sustainable remediation solutions in remediation policies.
Conventional methods of pump-and-treat, landfill disposal & thermal treatment are the most commonly, due to the persistence pollutants and the need of research on technical remediation solutions.
The EU Soil Strategy for 2030 establishes medium and long-term objectives for achieving good soil health by 2050. Throughout these objectives, the strategy enhances the hierarchy of waste (prioritising recovery rather than landfilling) and the soil restoration using sustainable methods, specifying that “contaminated sites require remediation with often complex and costly techniques, although in certain cases low-cost, bioremediation techniques have been shown to be effective”.
The incorporation of these priorities in public policies is a pending task that will be addressed by the NATUREM project.
Partners we are looking for
We are 10 parters and we are look to extend our partnership in soil bioremediation experiences.
