About the project
Older adults in the European Union have very low physical activity participation rates, as about two thirds of adults aged 55–69 years and about three quarters of those over 70 seldom or never participate in sport or exercise (WHO, 2016). Findings demonstrated that older people link successful ageing with a wide range of factors: positive attitude, realistic perspective in life, security and stability, social support, health and wellness. This project aims to develop policies for promoting older individuals' active life-style. The aims of the project were set as follows: a) to study the constraints and opportunities for olders adults to engage in an active life-style in an urban environment; b) to identify good practices applied by Local authorties, Region Organisations and Institutions c) to develop policies for promoting older adults' active life-style d) to organize training programs for professionals engagaged in older adults' programs.
