About the project
Today, in Europe, the hydraulic built heritage and its related technical skills are forgotten. Although water mills communities defend their historical and cultural values, it often remains a postcard vision without understanding of the various local potentialities.
Moreover, new project promoters endure many administrative barriers before the mill activity can be re-envisaged for micro hydropower production.
Within RENEWAT partners will share good practises to lead renewable energy project in existing water mills. Subjects such as financial models, technical skills, and administrative steps will be studied by each partner.
In addition, water mills re-activation can lead to a significant source of local economy and highly qualified jobs with positive impact on the social community.
The revitalisation of ancestral practices with innovative technological solutions (self-consumption, smart metering and smart grids) can foster Research & Development and investment activities.
