About the project
The aim of the project is testing an integrated package of policiy instruments in European rural areas with common problems (highly-productive agriland abandonment, forest fires, depopulation). We look for a new string of proactive and innovative rural development strategies and policies to reverse negative trends concerning those challenges. We aim at la mise en production of highly-productive abandoned agriland, rational planning of uses, biodiversity recovery and management, a push for green productive economy and quality-jobs from local resources. We envisage the set up of a network of smart villages prototypes in the European countryside (beautiful, inclusive, green, connected, socially innovative, investment-attractive), matched by a reinforced commitment to the settlement of new farmers. Sustainable building and urbanization, renewable energy systems, farming based on artificial intelligence, smart agriwaste economies, smart provision of public services, etc.) are priorities.
