About the project
In the German-Dutch border region, a group of highly mobile migrant workers from Eastern European EU countries has faced precarious and exploitative conditions for several years. The region aims to enhance the situation of these workers in the Euregio Region Rhine-Waal through various activities. These include cross-border networking and cooperation among actors in public administration, the welfare state, civil society institutions, and employers (such as agriculture, recruitment agencies, and the meat industry). Thematic fields encompass social counseling, work and businesses, and housing and community life. Joint strategies are being developed in field labs to retain migrant workers as skilled labor and address the impending shortage of skilled workers in the border region.
In a Interreg Europe project we hope to cooperate with regions with similar goals.
