About the project
An integrated, place-based approach to reduce emissions, promote social inclusion and green job creation, and enhance urban biodiversity.
Cities are responsible for a significant share of greenhouse gas emissions, and urbanization is expected to continue to grow in Europe. At the same time, urban environments are highly exposed to rising climate change related risks. The challenge is to reduce urban emissions while fostering social inclusion, making sure that the green transition is also a just transition, and enhancing urban resilience by expanding and connecting the green infrastructure.
The objective is to contribute to the transition towards a low-carbon society by developing and implementing an integrated approach to transform existing urban areas into eco-sustainable neighbourhoods. The proposed project aims to reach this goal by integrating different domains of emissions, creating job opportunities for vulnerable groups, and improving urban biodiversity through renaturalization.
