Coscolín. Tudela city center revitalization.

About this good practice
This good practice consists of the integral renovation and urban regeneration of the area around the Coscolín Oven in Tudela. It recovers for the city one of the most degraded spaces of its old case, by integrating it into the urban fabric through a public space of 1,000 m2 and four new buildings totaling 24 housing units: 12 social housing units and 12 free market units. In addition, there will be commercial spaces on the first floor of the buildings that will be used to locate public services and facilities.
The new public space for meeting and neighborhood relations will have four pedestrian accesses from different streets, which will improve integration and connection with the rest of the urban fabric. There will also be an urban elevator to save the difference in level with one of the streets.
In this way, this action responds to several needs of the municipality. On the one hand, the demand for social housing units and the recovery of a degraded central space for the city.
It is also important to emphasize the Archeological importance of the urban space and the Intercultural and intergenerational mix that occurs in this environment.

Potential for learning or transfer
European cities share the challenge of revitalizing their most central areas and making them more accessible at street level and as places to live. With a comprehensive action, this good practice responds to several challenges of the city ( regenerating the space and providing housing solutions to its citizens). Through social housing developments, it allows access to affordable housing to a part of the population to which the free market does not provide a solution.
