This is the good practice's implementation level. It can be national, regional or local.
About this good practice
The project includes:
o Removal of asbestos from the existing building
o The deconstruction of this same building
Bill of technical specifications (detail of the main parts dealing with wastes management):
- The contracting company must provide at its own expense all the work necessary for the perfect execution of all the works concerning its services
- A visit is highly advised to cope with the expectation of the product owner clearly expressed in the tender
- A demolition program will be established including:
o The provisional planning of the demolition with the different phases or milestones
o A description of the means to be implemented to avoid mixing waste in order to facilitate selective sorting
o Means to keep dust to a minimum and reduce nuisance (e.g. watering)
o Procedures to reduce noise (choice of equipment, tools and methods, selection of emission periods, protection, frequency)
- An environmental methodological note presenting the site management, the methods of selective deconstruction and waste management with a view to recovery is requested
- 100% of the waste tracking slips is requested in order to verify the requested recovery rate. In order to track waste of all types, this batch will produce waste tracking forms specifying at least the nature, quantities of waste disposed of by type and their destination in order to verify the recovery objective. It is required that 100% of the waste tracking slips be collected.

Resources needed
This tender is the output of several years of work and experience and has been refined by the Public Buildings and Architecture Department of the city of Paris. Were needed a good knowledge of the regulations as well as a good anticipation of wastes management in terms of planning to be on time.
Evidence of success
The level of detail given in the tender let small place to unproper ways of managing C&D wastes. The rate of 70% of recovery has been reached out, involving a tight operational management and frequent progress status. The different appendixes are to be completed:
• Identification document for waste treatment channels
• Site map with identification of access and turning area of truck
• Table of waste tonnages by category
• Table of waste treatment costs
• National waste collection networks

Potential for learning or transfer
This case can easily serve of a good practice to train project owners how to manage the wastes generated by building demolition activities.
